Church History

1990 - During the early 1990's, the Elder Board of Chinese Grace Bible Church (CGBC) met to establish various 5-year and 10-year goals. With the new millennium in sight, one of the goals for CGBC was to plant a new church in one of the new suburban communities sprouting up around Sacramento.
1994 - A Church Plant Strategy Committee was formed from the membership of CGBC. Pastoral Intern Tim Leung led this committee in developing a strategy for planting a new church.
As the Church Plant Strategy Committee completed its work, a written proposal and recommendation was submitted to the Elder Board and the Executive Board of CGBC.

1995 - During the annual business meeting at CGBC, the proposal recommended by the Church Plant Strategy Committee was approved by the voting membership. At the same meeting, the CGBC membership approved the recommendation of the Elder Board for Tim Leung to lead and pastor the church plant.
In the first half of the year in 1995 a core group of about 15-20 members left CGBC to be involved with the new work in Elk Grove. The members of the church plant team met at CGBC in the mornings for training and held services in the evening at Pastor Tim's home.
1996 - On Sunday, July 28, 1996, the church plant acquired the name River Ridge Neighborhood Church (RRNC) and started to hold morning services at String's Italian Restaurant on Laguna Blvd.
Fall of 1996 RRNC began to grow so the church moved to Cosumnes River College.
In 1998, Pastor Tim's three-year contract was due and he decided that it was time for him to move to another ministry.

1998 - February 1998 David Finch was called to be the interim pastor for RRNC.
June of 1998, the pastoral search committee recommended David Finch to the Servant Team to be the new pastor of RRNC. Pastor Dave was formally installed as the pastor of RRNC in the fall of 1998.
February 28, 1999, River Ridge Neighborhood Church (RRNC) initiated steps towards incorporation.
In May 1999 the RRNC Incorporation Team was formed to help bring RRNC through the incorporation process. The church voted to accept the Constitution and By-Laws on December 5, 1999.
2000 - On March 5, 2000 the charter membership of River Ridge Neighborhood Church was formed with a total of 64 people joining the church.
On May 7, 2000 the first River Ridge Neighborhood Church elections were held.
In June 2000 River Ridge Neighborhood Church was notified that it was fully incorporated.
September 17, 2000 marked the Incorporation Celebration. During that ceremony River Ridge Neighborhood Church recognized the financial and spiritual support of the people and leadership of Chinese Grace Bible Church.
On November 5, 2000 River Ridge Neighborhood Church moved to its current location at Arthur Butler Elementary School.
